Professor Patrick McDaniel – Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A

Prof. Patrick McDaniel is a Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the Pennsylvania State University and co-director of the Systems and Internet Infrastructure Security Laboratory. Prof. McDaniel is the Editor-in-Chief of the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology (TOIT), and serves as associate editor of the journals ACM Transactions on Information and System Security, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, and IEEE Transactions on Computers. Patrick's research efforts centrally focus on network, telecommunications, and systems security, language-based security, and technical public policy. Patrick was awarded the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and has chaired several top conferences in security including, among others, the 2007 and 2008 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy and the 2005 USENIX Security Symposium. He has authored over 100 books, papers, and reports and given over 100 invited talks.

 

Professor Z. Meral Özsoyoğlu – Case Western Reserve University, U.S.A

Prof. Z. Meral Özsoyoğlu is currently Andrew R. Jennings Professor of Computing in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at Case Western Reserve University, where she has been a professor of Computer Science since 1980.  Prof. Z. Meral Özsoyoğlu is known for her research in the areas of Database Query Languages, Data Models, Query Optimization, and Index Structures for high dimensional spaces, Statistical and Scientific Databases. More recently, her research focus is in Bioinformatics and biological data management including managing, visualizing and querying genomic pathways, efficient access methods and index structures for genomic sequences, and querying pedigree data. She has published over 100 papers in computer science journals including ACM TODS, IEEE TKDE, IEEE TSE, JCSS, Information Systems, Bioinformatics Journal, and international conferences including ACM SIGMOD, ACM PODS, VLDB, ICDE CSB, and SSDBM. She has been the program chair of international conferences, IEEE ICDE 2004, ACM PODS 1997, SSDBM 1999 and ACM SIGMOD vice chair 1997-2001, associate editor of IEEE TKDE journal 1999-2002, IEEE DE Bulletin 1977-1991, 2004-2007, associate editor for ACM TODS journal 2000-2007. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Database Systems (TODS), and associate editor of WWW journal, and serves as a trustee of the VLDB Endowment. Professor Ozsoyoglu is a recipient of several awards including IBM Faculty Award, NSF Faculty Award for Women in Science and Technology, and Distinguished Alumni Award from University of Alberta, EECS Service Award, and Research Spotlight Award from Case.

 

He has given 20 keynote speeches at international conferences, and has been a program committee member/chaired over 200 international conferences all over the world. He is an Editorial Board member of several journals including the prestigious ACM Transactions on Information System Security (USA), Journal of Information Security, Springer (Germany), Computer and Communication Security Reviews (UK) as well as the IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC) and IEEE Security and Privacy. His research work has been supported by industry such as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, British Telecom and Fujitsu, as well as government agencies such Australian Research Council (ARC), UK Research Council (EPSRC), Australian Defense (DSD), Dept of Prime Minister and Cabinet Australia and European Union(COST,EUREKA,ESPRIT,RACE,INFOSEC).
